NEW Research-Informed Ads

As the summer winds down, let’s take a moment to review the issues that are top of mind for moderate white women and watch the research-informed messages Galvanize Action crafted to connect with them on those topics.

We asked our audience about the issues that are most important to them most recently in an August 5 survey.

Graph of top vote choice issues showing 35% of moderate white women picked the economy, 19% picked preserving democracy, 14% immigration, and 10% abortion.
Top issues for moderate white women

As you can see from the graph here, the economy remains the top issue for our audience, with preserving democracy, immigration, and abortion following. Economy has been the most-selected answer every time we’ve asked this question, so we’ll begin there as we walk through messaging on these four topical issues.

ECONOMY

Take a look at Galvanize Action’s newest two ads and see if you notice anything different from the messages we’ve shown you so far this year.

Like our many other messages about the economy, these center on economic concerns that affect our daily lives. They’re about grocery prices and retirement, not the stock market or GDP. But unlike most of our messages that focus on strengthening support for programs that help all families thrive, these specifically call out corporate greed and highlight who is looking out for working families when it comes to making ends meet.

To watch the rest of Galvanize Action’s economy messages, many of which are about childcare and other facets of the care economy, check out this YouTube playlist.

DEMOCRACY
Protecting our democracy is of critical importance to all of us—last time we asked you the blog readers, you overwhelmingly told us that is your top issue! It’s a rising top vote choice issue for moderate white women as well. Here are a few different ways we’re connecting with this audience to get at what democracy means for them and why it matters so much this year and beyond.

This message is impactful because it helps women see that democracy is more than just voting once every four years: it’s volunteerism and collaboration and building community with their neighbors. Try to count how many symbols of patriotism show up in this message!

Civics Teacher is one of our new favorites. As the high school teacher in the video explains what she teaches her students about first-time voting, viewers get a gentle reminder that the rise of mail-in ballots means we might not know the results of an election immediately.

Send this mini civics lesson to a future first-time voter (or someone who needs a reminder about trusting our elections!).

Of course, a healthy democracy starts at home! In this clip from our Intergenerational Roundtable series, women from all generations talk about how their parents led by example and how they’re doing the same for their children.

IMMIGRATION

Immigration was the third-most-chosen issue when we last asked moderate white women what’s top of mind for them. Concerns about immigration are often paired with concerns about scarcity and security, so this year’s immigration message helps our audience see that there’s enough to go around.

This message moved white women to agree that immigrants make America better for everyone by +9pp.

REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM

Abortion is another top concern for moderate white women in our post-Roe world. In a recent audience understanding survey, 82% of moderate white women told us they’ll consider abortion rights when they vote, but just 27% say they would only vote for a candidate who shares their views on abortion. This reaffirms what we’ve repeatedly seen: abortion will be a factor in vote choice, but not the only factor. It’s important that we continue to connect with moderate women on reproductive freedom as well as all the other issues that are top of mind for our audience.

Galvanize Action’s newest messages about reproductive freedom are pulled from that same Intergenerational Roundtable conversation in which women from all generations came together to talk about the topics that matter most to them.

These conversation clips show a wider audience that reproductive rights are important to most women,

that abortion is healthcare,

and that we all need our government to safeguard abortion, IVF, and contraception access.

Galvanize Action is reaching 5.5 MILLION moderate white women across eight key states with these messages right now, thanks to support from blog readers like you. We couldn’t do it without your support! If you’re feeling inspired by the research-informed messages in this article, please consider making a gift to help us get them in front of even more women.
